Betterbrands Gold becomes Warriors’ Kit Sponsor

By Savious Madanhire

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has announced a major sponsorship deal with Betterbrands Gold worth US$80 000, making them the official kit sponsor for the Warriors’ 2025 AFCON Qualification Campaign.

The deal was confirmed by ZIFA in a statement, highlighting Betterbrands Gold’s growing involvement in sports sponsorship.

The sponsorship deal makes Betterbrands Gold to provide the Warriors with comprehensive support covering top of the range Training, Travel, Leisure, and Matchday Apparel for the national team. Replicas will also be provided at a date to be announced.

Commenting on the sponsorship deal, Betterbrands Gold Chief Executive Officer Tonde Sakupwanya said his organization is happy to be helping the national team.

“We are thrilled to support the senior men’s national team as they embark on this crucial journey to qualify for 2025 AFCON.”

“At Betterbrands Gold we believe in the power of sports to unite and inspire and we are proud to play a part in the Warrior’s success,” he said.

ZIFA’s Chief Executive Officer Yvonne Manwa said the sponsorship is a huge boost for the senior men’s team.

“This partnership with Betterbrands is a significant boost for our national team. The support provided through this sponsorship ensures that our players are well equipped and prepared for every aspect of their campaign.”

The sponsorship marks a significant commitment by Betterbrands Gold to support the national team as they strive for continental glory. The partnership underscores the company’s dedication to uplifting local sports and contributing to the success of the Warriors on the international stage.

The warriors will kicks off their 2025 AFCON Qualifiers campaign on 6 September against Kenya at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala, Uganda before hosting Cameroon four days later at the same venue.

Meanwhile, on fire Simba Bhora emerged as the biggest winners from Match Day 25 after opening up a four-point lead in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League as their title rivals dropped points.

The Shamva-based side notched half a century points after edging Bikita Minerals one-nil at Wadzanayi Stadium.

The victory, coupled with second-placed FC Platinum dropping points after a one-all draw with ZPC Kariba, saw the gold miners opening a four-point lead.

It was their evergreen captain Walter Musona who got the winner with his ninth goal of the campaign.

While Musona’s goals have been taking all the limelight, the Simba Bhora defence has been putting a massive shift to preserve the lead.

The Simba Bhora three-man defence has been rock solid, letting in just 18 goals and conceding just three times in the last 10 games.

While it is a team effort, 21-year-old centre-back Isheanesu Mauchi has stood out, flanked by veterans Blessing Moyo and Webster Tafa.

The former volleyball player has been churning out solid performances at the heart of the Simba Bhora defence and his form has seen him being recognised by national team coaches after participating in the 2024 COSAFA tournament.

Blessed with huge physique and athleticism, the young centre-back has complemented the two senior partners at the heart of the Simba Bhora defense.

FC Platinum might be down but not out after rescuing a point through a Wilfred Muvirimi added time equaliser to stay within touching distance of Simba Bhora.
