Barber in hot soup over child molestation cases

By Staff Reporter
An Ascot barber appeared in court facing three cases of rape and two cases of molesting minors in the area.
Goodluck Mbewe (56) of number 428 Sixpence Road, Ascot, has been cleared on one case of raping a 16-year-old and is facing four more sexual abuse cases involving minors.

In the first case, Mbewe escaped rape conviction after the complainant told the court that she agreed to have sexual intercourse with the accused after the accused gave her a $1.
Mbewe lured the 16-year-old girl into his room after she asked for a $1 from him.

Two other rape cases are still pending with the courts the first count recorded under CRB 344/19 and the second case CRB566/19, both involve minors.

In one of the cases, Mbewe allegedly saw a minor walking near his barber shop and called her in on the pretext that he wanted to send her somewhere. The accused allegedly pushed the minor into his shop where he trapped and raped her.

Mbewe also has two cases of molesting children referenced CR29/07/19 and CR22/02/19 which are still pending.
