Baba Gweru puts Gweru on the map

Perfect Chivima

Henry Talent Musingarabwi, widely known as Baba Gweru, is evidently creating a visible mark in the music scene with his Jiti sound and stage presence.

Well known for performances that get crowds moving and sweating, especially women who dance non-stop to Baba Gweru’s sound.

The “Kupisa paZimba” hitmaker has earned recognition as one of Gweru’s standout musical acts.

Accompanied by a growing fan base and trending presence on social media, major brands are now lining up for endorsement deals, recognising his value as an emerging star.

As a proud product of Gweru, Baba Gweru has remained committed to his roots while steadily gaining national attention.

One cannot ignore that his rise has been strongly supported by the direction of his manager, Oswell Phiri, also known as Zede.

Under Zede’s leadership, Baba Gweru is now featured on nearly every event poster in town.

The team’s focused approach has greatly boosted his visibility and overall brand strength.

Fans can look forward to more from the artist as he prepares to release his new single “Vauya” on 10 September, premiering on his YouTube channel.

Soon after, he’ll follow it up with a Jiti track titled Skanga Ndilume, which will include an accompanying music video.

All music is produced and mastered by the one and only MTJ, Baba Gweru’s trusted producer and long-time collaborator.

MTJ also plays as his DJ and MC at selected shows, a reflection of their close professional relationship.

Unlike many artists who relocate to Harare for exposure, Baba Gweru remains rooted in his hometown.

Speaking on his journey, he said: “I work according to God’s plan, so if He says it’s time to leave, I will, but my dream is to bring a NAMA award to Gweru. Filled with consistency and strong management backing, Baba Gweru continues to raise the city’s musical profile on his own terms.”
