A 24-year-old man Alfred Kamambo was stabbed with a knife during a fight at Mutemarongo Tuck shop in Gokwe South on 7 August 2024 at around 2100.
The Midlands Police Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahokosaid the circumstances were that the now deceased Alfred Kamambo had entrusted the suspect Tinashe Katsikadova with a cellphone and money to give to his wife but Katsikadova failed to deliver the items.
“The suspect Tinashe Katsikadova (17) and the now deceased Alfred Kamambo (24), used to do gold panning in Battlefields, Kadoma hence sometime back, Kamambo sent the suspect with a cellphone and some money to give to his wife and the suspect allegedly did not deliver the property. A confrontation ensued at the tuck shop, leading to a physical altercation after the suspect’s response did not go well with Kamambo,” said Mahoko.
On the fateful day, the now deceased confronted the suspect at Mutemarongo Tuckshop asking him why he did not deliver the parcel to his wife.
The suspect’s response did not go well with Kamambo which led to a fight. The suspect ran away and later came back armed with a catapult.
The fight resumed and during the fight, Kamambo produced an okapi knife intending to stab Tinashe who overpowered and disarmed him from his knife and stabbed him in the chest, shoulder, and left ribs with the knife leading to the death of Kamambo on the spot.
ZRP Gokwe attended the scene leading to the arrest of the suspect and investigations are going on hence the police appeal to members of the public to resolve disputes amicably.
