All has been set for the Miss Gweru beauty pageant which is to be hosted by Mahogany TV Lighting and Sound Promoters at Cathedral Hall on the 24th of August 2024 and is expected to enhance the girl child’s participation and protection.
Ten single participants ranging from the ages of 17-29 years will battle it out for the Queen’s tiara.
In an interview with this reporter, Image Modelling Founder and organizer of this pageant Mavis Koslek said the pageant is designed with a specific target to protect the Midlands’ image as well as to empower a girl child.
“Miss Gweru is diverse and it is designed with a specific target to project the midlands image, it is set to promote Gweru’s culture through beauty as well as to empower the girl child on their intelligence and confidence.”
“This beauty pageant gives a chance to young women in Gweru to be a voice in their community by working to bring positive change in the lives of young women as Ambassadors of Gweru.”
This year’s Miss Gweru winner will become the brand ambassador of Mahogany TV Lighting and Sound.
Mrs Koslek said that the pageant is one of the highlights of Gweru’s social calendar which brings in a lot of things.
“The pageant is one of the main highlights of Gweru’s social calendar which brings in high fashion by contestants, music acts and performing artists. Each year Miss Gweru is freshly packed with new faces being introduced to the modelling industry where contestants are forwarded into national beauty pageants representing the province as a whole.”
This year’s beauty pageant will be a tribute to former Miss Gweru T’Shana Heather Andrews, doors will be open at 6 pm and Nyasha David will be performing live.
The pageant is to be sponsored by Glow Petrol, Rivervalley Properties, Booties Pharmacy, Mahogany Lighting and Sound, ABC auditors, OK Mart, Eat and Lick, Jean and Chrome, Mid Drive Driving School, CN Photography to mention only a few.
