Yesterday at Ascot stadium was yet another “Defence Forces derby” as Chapungu FC battled against Black Rhinos with a narrow but crucial 1-0 victory in a midweek PSL fixture.
Chapungu FC currently seating on position 14th place with only 24 points had a chance to collect some points to avoid relegation through a magical goal in the 52nd minute by Clive Rupiya.
The first half of the game was disappointing as both teams failed to neither score nor hit the target.
In the second half Chapungu employed a different tactical approach thus gaining an edge over their rivals.
Rhino’s player Edgar Chigui began to ask questions towards Chapungu’s shot stopper as he continued to mount pressure on them but failed to score.
Chapungu coach Rodwel Dlakama expressed his joy towards the performance and said winning the match gave them confidence to move forward.
“We have started brightly in the second half of the season ,we have lost only one game so looking at these statistics it shows we are going to do very well, we just need to keep our heads above the water,” said Dlakama.
Meanwhile Black Rhinos coach Herbert Maruwa expressed disappointment with the team’s performance and acknowledged that it was a tough match.
“It was a tough match they got their chance to punish us but overally it was a balanced game we just need to quickly come back and win our next game and we need to continue working hard because our target is top 4,”said Maruwa.
