The Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke will return from November 5 to 7, 2026, with proceeds from the three-day charity cycling event expected to support educational opportunities for orphaned and vulnerable children in the Midlands Province.

The event will bring together cyclists, mining companies and corporate partners for an initiative that combines sport, community development and fundraising for disadvantaged children.

Nedbank Zimbabwe Senior Brand and Marketing Manager Joel Gombora confirmed the bank’s continued sponsorship during a regional client engagement meeting held at The Pote Hotel in Zvishavane on Thursday, October 8
Gombora said Nedbank remained committed to the cycling initiative, which also seeks to strengthen the bank’s engagement with communities along the Great Dyke.

“As you know, Nedbank are the title sponsors of the Tour de Great Dyke, and we’ll be back here again just engaging the different communities here,” he said.

The event is expected to attract participants from different sectors, including the mining industry and the corporate world, providing an opportunity for networking while raising funds for a charitable cause

Proceeds from the initiative will support educational opportunities for orphaned and vulnerable children in the Midlands Province through the Gifted Children Foundation.

Education remains an important tool in improving the lives of disadvantaged children, many of whom face challenges in accessing learning materials and meeting other school-related expenses.

Through initiatives such as the Tour de Great Dyke, corporate partners can help mobilise resources to assist children in need
The cycling tour also seeks to promote health and wellness by encouraging people to embrace cycling as a form of physical exercise and a healthy lifestyle.

It provides an opportunity to raise awareness of cycling while bringing together individuals and organisations around a common community development goal.

The Great Dyke, which stretches through several parts of Zimbabwe and is home to major mining operations, provides a setting for the event to bring together businesses and communities along the mineral-rich corridor.

The participation of mining companies and corporate organisations also creates opportunities to strengthen relationships between businesses and the communities in which they operate.

Such partnerships can help support social development programmes, including education and other initiatives targeting vulnerable groups.
Nedbank’s continued sponsorship reflects its involvement in an initiative that uses sport as a platform for charitable giving and community engagement.

Cyclists wishing to participate in this year’s event can register for a fee of US$20. Online registration is available through the official Tour de Great Dyke website at www.tourdegreatdyke.com.

The three-day event is expected to provide an opportunity for participants to promote healthy living while contributing towards efforts to improve educational opportunities for disadvantaged children in the Midlands Province.
