Mimosa Mine in Zvishavane accorded 118 cattle to Zvishavane villagers under the Cattle Revitalization scheme last week.
The platinum mining company gave ward 19 and ward 5 in Zvishavane 118 cattle at a function held at Mtshinge Primary School. Out of the 118 cattle, 45 are bulls and 73 are heifers. Ward 5 received 18bulls and 33 heifers while ward 19 is to get 19 bulls and 32 heifers for distribution among the people.
The Cattle Revitalization initiative was introduced in 2015 as a way of increasing the size of the herd and improve the lives of villagers around them.
Mimosa General manager Stephen Ndiyambi attended the function as well as the MP for Zvishavane-Ngezi, Dumizweni Mahwite who was the guest of honor.
Ndiyambi said, “The company will continue investing in the communities surrounding them and also they are hoping the initiative will yield better results”.
He also added, “The Cattle Revitalization scheme started in 2015 and as a company, it is as a way of building our legacy and living a mark in the communities around us”.
