By Varaidzo Muzonzini & Tapiwanashe Mulenga
The prize-giving ceremony for the 6th edition of the Miss Midlands Show Beauty Pageant was held on Wednesday and Danai Chigama was crowned the show Queen.

15 beauty pageants competed for the crown but Chigama outshined the previous Miss Midlands Show queen Semkelisumusa Makombe who had reigned for two consecutive years.
Mitchell Amos was crowned 1st princess, Delight Chivhunze was crowned 2nd princess and Sandra Mjumi was crowned Miss Personality. All 15 beauty pageants walked away with vouchers from Jet Stores.

“We apologize that the Midlands Show 2020, together with the beauty pageant delayed due to Covid-19. We only had one sponsor Jet, some sponsors could not make it due to Covid-19. However, we are pleased that this year the show was a success and the beauty pageant has become more prevalent indicating greater achievement.

“Surrounded by beauty pageants who have devoted their efforts in improving the welfare of their community we recognize such a gesture and encourage others to emulate,” said the Midlands Show manager Victoria Chikukwa.

She also added that participating in beauty pageants is important in building confidence, developing social skills and personality for young women, and such help in improving pageants’ careers in the future.

“The beauty of such an endeavour is to raise self-esteem and prove to the people that it is possible to have beauty and brains. It brings happiness not only to the community but the country as a whole. Go out there and prove to people that you can make a difference. To other contestants my word to you is do not give up, there are still opportunities for you to explore,” added Chikukwa.
She thanked stakeholders and partners for making the event possible.

“This year’s edition of Miss Midlands Show set off on an obscure road because of Covid-19, but the priceless effort made this year’s edition a must-watch. The show society walks tall because of the support from various organizations,” said Chikukwa.

Victoria Chikukwa, Prisca Chard, Norman Dururu, Jet Stores, and Lloyd Mudonhi officiated the prize giving. Frost Agency was responsible for assisting in dressing the models.
