Several families in Shurugwi North constituency have been left homeless following a hailstorm which destroyed their houses and the only high school in the area, with several reports of villagers left injured, Wednesday afternoon.
Heavy rains and a hailstorm swept through the Chironde area, causing extensive damage to more than 20 homes and the school had its roofs blown away.
Chief Nhema confirmed the incident saying he was still collecting figures for the total number of affected families and damages to property
Residents who contacted The Sun said that the heavy rains and strong winds left a trail of destruction leaving people homeless and injured.
“There is urgent need of help because some people no longer have a place to stay, a mother and a child were critically injured but where quickly rushed to Shurugwi hospital”.
