The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Gweru are investigating a case of human remains discovered by a resident along the Gweru river, Provincial Community Relations Liaison Officer, Midlands Province Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko has said.
Police said only a right side limb wearing an Adidas sneaker with red, black and white colours approximately size 9 or 10, was discovered last week.
Inspector Mahoko said the human remains was seen by an informant who was walking to Roman Catholic Centre along Matobo road and promptly reported the matter to the police
“On the 9th of April 2021 around 1300hrs, the informant was on his way to Roman Catholic Centre along Matobo road. Upon approaching Gweru river, he saw a sneaker floating on water and discovered that there
were human remains,” he explained.
Insp Mahoko added that the remains were taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital Mortuary and called upon members of the public missing a relative to approach the police.
“Members of the public who are missing a relative matching the description given above may approach Mtapa Police or any nearest Police station. The leg is being held at Gweru Provincial Hospital Mortuary,” he said.
